Subject: Extra Postage Required on Your Postcards

Dear Quality Assurance Department,

I just received a postcard in the mail from a friend who was visiting
New Orleans, and this postcard (of St. Louis Cathedral) was published
and distributed by your company. It was mailed from New Orleans to me
in North Carolina, but the US Postal Service stamped a "postage due"
mark on it. It would appear that the maximum dimensions for a postcard
(that is, an item of mail that costs 23 cents rather than 37 cents to
mail) are 6" by 4.25". Your postcard measured 6 3/4" by 4 5/8", both
well over the standard USPS postcard dimensions.

I took the liberty of looking at the Canadian Postal Guide on the
internet, which states that postcards can be no larger than 235mm by
120mm. Your New Orleans postcard that I received was indeed within the
Canadian dimensions, measuring about 171mm by 117mm.

In sum, I wanted to let your Quality Assurance department know about
this problem with at least one of your postcards. It appears from a
simple web search that your company produces numerous postcards for
purchase and mailing in the United States. I would suggest that you
either let consumers know that postage beyond the postcard rate is
required for your cards or that you make smaller postcards to conform to
the USPS guidelines (which you can view at
http://www.usps.com/consumers/domestic.htm).

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
Kristina Killgrove
